OK, let's start a new thread to discuss the Trojan rules update. Feel free to post your questions, likes/dislikes, comments, etc, and I'll do my best to address them. Let's just keep it constructive.
Putting these rules out early is actually quite beneficial, as players are a lot better at spotting vague or confusing bits than we are... we know what we meant - we wrote it! ;) For those who missed the update, it is here: Trojan PDF Update The update is for backers only, if you are a Paypal backer, we'll be sending out an email with the appropriate links shortly... or if you did not get it, just shoot us an email.

(question from another thread, moved here)
Anstpuppet said: As currently written, the Apollonian Guard are considered Hoplites, not Archers. I may revise this if it proves to be a balance problem, they could easily be rewritten as a special archer unit.
Anstpuppet said: Second rank uses Hand Weapons when in melee combat.
Anstpuppet said: Not nitpicky at all, their mechanics are complicated (no other WarGods unit can split weapon use in a single Turn), so there is likely to be a little confusion... best to get it 100% clear now, rather than after it gets printed!

I noticed a change in the Trojan rules from the preview that was posted a long time ago. The original draft of the Trojan Battle Honor for Apollonian Guard stated that all the models had to have the appropriate shield and bows and quivers added to the backs of the minis. Now the rules state that the front rank is made of up spear men with the shield while the back ranks are made up of archer models. Why the change? I asked for Apollonian Guard shields with my Trojans to make this unit as originally written but now I don't need most of them since only the first rank actually use them. Not to mention the bows and quivers I got to do the conversions. I know it's my own fault for jumping the gun and moving before the real rules were made available but it would be nice to know the reasoning behind the change. Thanks.

Is there a reason Apollonian Guard is listed in the UNITS PERMITTED section?
Their fluff shows them to be the best archers in all of Hellas. Will their eventual warband construction allow them to take more Archers, or will their Archers have a Mis. 5, like their Hoplites?

Wolf said:The model requirement was changed to make the unit more recognizable on the tabletop. That being said, using a phalanx with added bows would seem OK with me. Some of these Battle Honors are still being tested and refined, so please be patient with us if we need to make changes. Wolf, we're happy to swap the unused parts if you end up needing to.

Akori said:The Apollonian Guard appears in the 'units permitted' section as it was originally conceived as a unique unit, rather than a Battle Honor - I neglected to remove the listing when we made the PDF. There is still a chance it could be swapped back to a unique unit, it is something of an odd fit in the Battle Honors. We'll see...

Can you take Trojans or Amazons archer units and/or Chariots for allies? Or must you only take Hoplites units for allies?
And I also agree with Akori that the Trojans and Amazon archer units should have Mis rating of 5 and also be able to upgrade to light armor.

On page 4 it says that Trojan hoplites 'may choose to upgrade to Medium Armor for an additional 2 points per model'. Should this be 4 points per model?
Thanks, Kevin
