King Leonadis had a plan to build a navy to expand sparta influence and power in Greece . He was going to pay the agoge fees for the poor Spartans who could no longer afford the fees in exchange they owed him 10 years as a marine ,the pereoki who could fight in the army as support but didn't go to the agoge would be the sailors. So here are my big changes first Leonadis won at Thermopile and survived to build his navy and be the premier navy Athens was to weak to resist the expansion after the Persian war. Second build Navy (done) got 4 . Third 100 sword Spartans to be Marines and 40 archers get rowers that I don't think exist to of course.

I have painted and based 120 spartan 100 peroikoi hoplites with 20 archer made from GW marauder plastic kit and max mini heads and shields,with all gods and archers and javeline on the way from kick starter .

My question after all this is should I use the archers javelin link men as my rowers and stick oars on the side of the boat ? Or should I hire someone to sculpt me a rower?

I would go with oars on the sides of the boat and the javelin guys as 'rowers' so they can pull double duty if needed.
