Would anyone be interested in attending a tournament in Nottingham? Probably around Feb-Mar to allow enough time for people to receive and paint up the Amazons and Trojans. This isn't a firm commitment at this point, I'm just wanting to know whether it's worth approaching Wargames Foundry about hosting it.

I could be interested depending on when. Also what would be allowed (Aegyptus/Wendigo/Olympus). And any other things like points/cost etc... But yeah very interested :)

I'd be interested in seeing pics from it since it's way too much of a trip from here.

The exact details can be worked out so they suit everyone best. At this point it's just an exercise in gauging interest as it's pointless arranging it if not enough people would turn up.

A one-day event suits me better too. I was thinking three games of two hours each and probably a minimum of eight players to make it worthwhile. To make it as accessible as possible I think that it should be open to warbands from all three books with no requirement that the minis be painted. I'm okay with proxies as long as it's clear what the minis are supposed to represent, it isn't fair on the opponent otherwise. A box of Victrix Greeks provides four hoplite units for £20 so it shouldn't be too difficult to find appropriate proxies.

Thoughts?

Ben, its Richard, we were talking about this on the comments thread on the KS page.

Not having played it yet, what sort of points games would you get in 2hrs? 1000? 1500?

I'd probably bust up there first thing in the morning and come home that evening, so three games is good for a one dayer yeah.

Hi Richard :)

This is new to me too. I know that having a tournament to work towards will help motivate me to paint up the minis and learn to play and I hope it'll help with growing the UK scene in the wake of the KS. I think for both time and accessibility's sake the points values should be at the lower end, say 1000. Though someone with more knowledge than me can tell us whether that's feasible.

Yeah - I could probably be convinced to go quite easily.

There is the matter of painting that I don't like so I might need a kick up my butt to get it done. But also, with the cavalry being out about a year later I would think some sort of proxies might have to be used. I guess its the same for certain characters / war altars / chariots as well.

But my interest most def exist.

If the minis don't yet exist then people using appropriate proxies isn't an issue for me. Likewise if people don't have enough from their KS pledge to make whatever the points value we go with then rounding it out with appropriate proxies is also fine with me.

If my rudimentary maths skills aren't failing me there's five peopleon this thread, including myself, who are interested. I know of at least one other person who'd be interested also so I'm cautiously optimistic :). I'm down at Foundry a week on Saturday running a Carthage vs. Syracuse battle so I'll speak with them about hosting it.

Cool, I'll work towards 1000pt demo forces to get more peeps interested in my area then, and I'm tempted to turn my pledge into 2 smaller olympus forces rather than 1 big one.

The warband pledge level must be roughly 1000pts give or take?

There are army lists for the Spartans and Mycenaeans in Croc Tales so they probably give a good idea of what the other four factions will be. Peltasts are 20pts each, an archer armed just with a bow is 15pts. A war altar is 80pts, a Mycenaean hoplite is 23pts, a Spartan one is 24pts, a Titan Hunter is 85pts. A Demi-God starts at 100pts plus 25pts per Ka, the Honor Guard are 30pts each.

Aye I have them but not had a chance to go thru them properly yet.

A quick math hammer puts a 2ka demigod with gear at 170, a phalanx at 250, archers 150, peltasts at 200 and a few characters or additional hoplites should make a nice 1000pter
