Is there any reason to use edged weapons if you have the option to use a blunt weapon?

Reading through the rulebook, I see things that take extra damage from blunt weapons and reduced damage from edged weapons, but never a situation where edged weapons will do more damage than blunt.

The main weapons that are better for blunt over edged are the throwing clubs but there are only one group that can use them. The majority of weapons are universal: Hand weapon, two Hand weapons, Double-Handed weapon, Pole arms are pritty much universal as they can be both edged and blunt. All others are pritty basic with regards to what's what. Hope that answered your question...

have to comment on the polearms on the last forum it was made mention that they where edged weapons couldn't use in a khemru force...

And yeah blunt as opposed to edged is generally better if only for the structural damage to things like buildings collossii...

That is more or less what I meant. There seems to be no reason to model a weapon as edged if you have the option to use something blunt, and I wasn't sure if that was the intent or if I was missing something.

Spears. They are sharp and thus I would count them as edged, just like polearms. I don't think you can set for charge with a non-edged weapon.

Also, if I recall the Torturer's poison only works with edged weaponry.

You can.

See page 44. "Only units armed entirely with hafted weapons (spear and pole-arms) may Set For Charge"

Personaly if a see another weapons with type "halfted" like a special wip for example I will give Set for Charge option Command Counter. If a see the weapon type "edged" I don't give the option Set for Charge...
