Hello all,

Some of you may remember my posts from the old forum about building up some demo armies. Now I have never played a game of Wargods and don't know anybody who plays in WA (Western Australia). However that has not put me off. I love the look of the figures and the idea behind the game so am working towards building two armies that I can field against each other with the intention of trying to run some demo games to fire up some interest. Should be entertaining trying to teach others something I don't know myself. I am hoping my enthusiasm will see me through.

Anyway.

The two armies I have planned are a Tethru based force and a Typhon / Nekharu alliance.

If you remember my first steps into Painting Aegyptus figures turned out like this

Tethru1

Tethru1

Tethru1

Tethru1

From there I set the feel of how I wanted the armies to look. The way I see these armies growing is that although the Tethru are typically on the 'Good' side and the Typhon are typically on the more 'Evil' side I really want their colours to blur the edges of what's good and what's bad. I wanted to steer away from the stereotypical Good guys in white (light Colours) and the bad guys in the dark colours. I also felt that although the Tethru are fundamentally scholars they are also warriors when the need be. The Black clothing just seemed to work for me on these guys.

So from there I went on to paint my favourite Tethru unit and the reason for me wanting a Tethru Harbinger. The spearmen.

Tethru6

Tethru1

So with a couple of units done for one army I turned my attention to the other side of the coin. A couple of units of Typhon armed with spears.

Its been some time Since I managed to put brush to figure but having just done these guys I think I have the urge to paint some more.

At the moment my armies consist of.

Tethru Starter Set, Tethru Spearmen (2 units), Tethru Bowmen (additional unit)

Typhon Starter Set, Typhon Spearmen (additional unit), Nekharu Archers, Nekharu Swordsmen.

So where do I go from there?

If I wanted to add, say for example and hope the wife's not reading this, an additional couple of hundred bucks worth of figures which would you go for? For me I love the painting side of things equally as much as the gaming and for the time being, until I find an opponent, the painting is all i've got.

So yeah. I would love to hear your suggestions.

Wow, amazing job on the painting. I would imagine that will help get some interest in your demo games. I would love to move around figures that well painted. Also you have done what I thought was impossible...I now like Tethru. Keep up the good work and best of luck finding some opponents. I am also a solo player so I feel your pain.

Chariots. Maybe Sebeki for one of the warbands and Basti for the other.

Great looking minis, they need to fight, but first let the Tethru get a Master of Words! :D

I thought those Tethru looked great the first time I saw them, and I still think they look excellent!

The Typhon make an excellent counterpoint to them (visually AND rules-wise). Good choice. I'm looking forward to seeing your Nekharu. I'd reccomend Heru as allies for your Tethru - they're a natural antagonist for the Typhon.

Awesome paint jobs on your units. I'd play in a demo if I saw those!

Thanks for all the nice comments.

I quickly painted up these Nekharu, I guess with the exception of the Eater of the Dead these are really the only other race that will always be on the 'Bad Guys' side. The aim was to keep with a white(ish) colour for the robes but for them to look a little less pristine and newly washed. These were really quick figures to paint. I have another unit of them with swords which I will probably do next before getting back on with the Tethru.

Very nice, both the Tethru, Typhon and Nekharu.

Nice Nekharu, but they seem a little too clean. They must be hatching some sort of plot...

yeah the Nekharu do look cleaner then most, I may dirty them up at a later point but at the moment the nice clean colours stands out.

Second unit of Nekharu done and dusted. (their skin colour is the same as the other unit, just the lighting was different so they look slightly different.)

Next in line more Tethru.

Got my next unit done this week.

So not another unit of Tethru like I had originally planned.

A unit of Sebeki and additional Character. Eight figures all up.

Love the richness in colour! They look moody and mean, great job and thanks for sharing!
