Alright! Croc Tales is finally updated, and the rules for the Spartans are available. Time to pick out some models. I'm looking at the Spartan starter set and a Strategos to begin with, but really, how much game am I going to get out of one regiment? I'm assuming the Peltasts are the logical 2nd regiment, as that way I can choose to give my single Hoplite unit "Swings from the Right" and get them some tasty, tasty flank moves. Right now, though, that leaves me with a couple of stupid questions (at least one of which is because I'm at work, and my AEgyptus rulebook is at home):
1. What makes a Demigod "Infamous"? While it's a bit out of character for the Spartans to hire Minotaurs, it's hard to pass up giant bull-mans, especially when I'm anticipating coming up against Yetis. 2. How many points is the average game? I'm looking at somewhere around 6-700 points from the starter and a Strategos, depending on what I give the Hoplite block. 3. What would you call the bronze breastplates the Spartans are wearing from an armor perspective? They look like Medium Armor to me as compared to a lot of the Egyptians, but I've also got a heck of a lot of Warhammer Elves that are wearing similar chestplates that are supposedly light armor. Apples and oranges, I know, but if there is an accepted answer for the WYSIWYG rather than just "I had some extra points, so now their armor is extra thick bronze", I'd like to be on the right side of it.

Well most games I have played have been 1000-1200ish is a good base.
Infamouse is just a culture choice hehe... for spartans you could do them as disgraced spartans wanting revenge against there own city state while still trying to prove they have what it takes to be spartans... be it with a little help due to dwindling numbers. Usually armour wise its your choice but I'd say max of medium armour as most times it gets too expencive to hvy armour stuff. And with models you can usually get away with 1 step from the model for what armour they have give or take but yeah I'd say you could have them as medium armour. Look at the chariot thats hvy armour ;) Hope that helps...

It does, thanks. I actually just looked at the Hoplite unit on the webstore, and helpfully enough, to the right of the picture, it's tagged as "Medium Armor". So I guess that answers that question.
Infamous is really just a fluff decision, huh? Might have to kick that around a little. I do like the Minotaurs...

It's why I said do them as disgraced Spartans there wanting to prove there worth kind of thing. The Infamous or Famous is for campaigns and to help the feel of how you want your army so thats my Infamous Spartans trying to prove there still the best sounds good.
