Hi all,

Cancon 2012 is only three months away now and, as this coming year's organiser, I just wanted to get a feel for who is intending on going?

I know that a number of the Canberra folk who usually attend will not be able to this year due to a variety of family commitments all around, and so wanted to make sure we had sufficient numbers to make it worth while running the event.

I've set the minimum number of players at 8 (as per previous years).

So can you please post or PM me with your current intentions, that would be really helpful.

Oh, and for those unfamiliar with the Cancon event: It is held each year over the Australia Day Long Weekend (January) in Canberra, Australia.

I intend to be there - I have already booked it in, so barring unforeseen events I should be there

I'm also planning on being there, but my track record of actually getting to tournaments (especially those to which I've committed) has been pretty shocking over the past couple of years, so don't hold your breath.

Any word on how this event's travelling so far?

If it looks like bombing out, I'll need a bit of time to get an army/ team sorted for another event that will be running.

We are still looking forward to running the event, and are already planning scenarios etc.

Although I am concerned that I currently only have 2 people who are defintienly intending on attending and 2 people who would like to, but are not sure. We need a minimum of 8 players.

Of course, Cancon is still three months away, and the above is just a sample sizze based on whoever has read this thread on this forum in the last week... so I'm not reading too much into the answers just yet

Cross me off as well.

I'll be playing Blood Bowl instead.

would have loved to be there but the first day of cancon is the day nsw teachers and some catholic schools start work again - any chance of the comp running on saturday and sunday - if there is may be able to make it. - by the way do the cancon organisers realise that this is a first day back at school?

The plan, as in previous years, is to hold the event as a two day event over the Saturday and Sunday - so yes.

As for the timing - I'm not a member of CGS, so can't say for certain. However my guess is that the organisers probably haven't considered the need for teachers to be back earleir than the students. Even though ACT goes back to school on the 3rd too.

You may want to check with CGS about the dates they were expecting Wargods to run, as Cancon this year runs Friday to Sunday (rather than Saturday to Monday)...
