From the Rules Addendum PDF (see the 'Downloads' section):
Uncontrollable: The Beloved of Sobek is vicious and uncontrollable, and will eagerly charge into combat with the nearest enemy – even against the orders of his commander. If the Beloved starts his Activation phase with an enemy model within it’s forward 12” charge arc, it must make a Discipline Save; failure means that the Beloved ignores its current orders and immediately charges the enemy, success means that the player moves the Beloved as ordered. If there is more than one unit with the Beloved’s charge arc, the Beloved must make a Save for each unit, starting with the unit closest.
To clarify: When you activate the Beloved, before you even turn over his Command Counter you have to start making your Discipline Saves. If you pass all of them you can flip it over and do whatever you had originally wanted to do with him.
The Beloved of Sobek counts as a Specialist for purposes of warband construction, but is considered a Monster in actual game play. Except for being able to run, the Beloved does not receive any of the benefits of an Independent Character -- i.e., the Beloved of Sobek may not attach to units or Evade, and it is not capable of achieving non-combat-related mission objectives (such as capturing, moving, or using items, answering the Riddle of the Sphynx, etc.).
