And here we have the latest green - Dionysus, the god of wine!

He's 95% done, I just a few small details to add (a splash of wine in his cup, some detail on his medallion, and a club hanging at his belt.)

Enjoy!

For the update this week, can we get some more details about expected completion dates? I know this is a complicated process, and this is a huge project for you and we all want to make sure we have the quality we expect from Croc, but September was targeted as the projected release of several factions: Trojans, Demi-Gods, Spartan swordsmen, Mycenaean peltasts, and the Greek archers (we have seen those pics). Are any of these going to be ready to ship soon?

We are working to get all these done. Please keep in mind, we also added Dionysus, Bronze Owl, Oracle of Delphi, and Helen of Troy -- all of which need to be finished before we can fulfill any of the $160+ rewards. Because of these extra sculpts, we're running a few weeks behind on the first wave of fulfillment, though I'm doing my best to catch up. Please bear with me, hopefully the extra minis will make it all worth it!

Expect the Demigods-only rewards to be shipping first (all of those sculptures are completed, and heading to production) and the Trojans will come next (when Aeneas, the Oracle and Helen are finished, which I'm working on now).

Looking good, my favourite detail has to be the liquid about to slop out of his cup with abandon:)

Should have got one of these to lead those booze fuelled, nymph chasing, hoof and bow merchants I've got lurking in the shed!

Great work, looking forward to the update this weekend.

Trojan Casualty aka "drunk off his centaur"

I am getting entirely distracted. I was not primarily excited by Hephaestus and then came the mini... All the little iconic details and the physical character of the mini made me want to have an Hephaestus warband, especially with the addition of the automatons. Now, I am lit with anticipation about Dionysus too. WELL DONE! The tiny detail make such a difference. He looks sweaty and heavy handed, carousing with highly authentic kylix of wine in hand. Can't wait!

Here's the latest, Aeneas, prince of Troy.

He's still got a couple details to add (a sword on his belt, and some tassles hanging from his spear) - but there is enough here to show off!

Fitz, just to make sure...is the shield going to be molded onto Aeneas? Or will it be separate? Not sure if you were adding it for the total effect while you were working...or even how that whole process would go, actually. i guess you have to fit the shields at some time or another no matter if they are separate or not, right?

Thanks!

Aeneas' shield is a separate piece. So, you could give him a different one if you wanted, etc.

I generally make all the shields separate pieces, unless the model's pose/constriction demands that the arm is included.

Trojans are indeed late, but out of all the kickstarters and indiegogos I have taken part in, only these have been on time that were ready before the crowdfunding campaigns were initiated. Only exception being Deep Wars by Antimatter games (great product, delivered fast, but small backing level of 24kUSD).

Most important is the quality of minis, than the delivery time. Personally I would hate if quality was sacrificed in order to rush things and be on time. Also, the number of models ulocked was probably bigger than initially planned. It has to cause delays.

I don't have an issue with delays, I understand the complexity and time it takes to get the details just right (and I expect the details to be great from Croc), It is just that I have been caught in the time warp of "Croc Time" for years and was hoping for more transparency with this project. I am NEVER dissapointed with the work Chris and his team deliver, I am just very anxious to get painting and gaming!

The sculpture of the Oracle is close to being finished, if things go we'll I'll be able to show her off in the update this weekend.

The last of the Demigod molds are being pressed this week, and I'll be going out to inspect the master castings for the last 2 (Hecate and Dionysus) on Friday. If those look good we'll be able to start production castings for the Demigods next week. Fingers crossed they came out OK!

OK, here's the latest progress on the Oracle. At this point she's about 90% complete, I just have to sculpt her hands, some drapery work on her shroud, and either coals or water in the basin of the tripod.

She presented quite a lot of design challenges, especially with the tripod's legs (something with 3 legs is difficult to mold in a way that it can be produced without distortion/molding problems. We have to produce a LOT of her (all of our $160+ rewards get her) so ease-of-production is a big consideration. Hopefully this will work!

I'll make an overall update on Kickstarter in a couple days, as soon as her last bits are finished. I don't mind showing off 'in-progress' shots on this forum... So here she is:

Great job! Stunning! I love it!

I assume it is the angle that makes her head look a bit round since i can only see it on one of the shots. But could we get a shot straight from the front?

Also is it possible to mould the coal as a separate bit? That means you could choose if you wanted coal or water yourself :-) It might not be possible because of the extra work, I just wanted to ask in either case ;-)

I think there would be a fit issue if the contents of the basin were separate (there will be some distortion when the parts are molded).

I've put her on an integral base (like the Mysterious Stranger miniature). She does not really fit on a 20 or 25 slotta, so I think this is the best solution...

Hi so just for my own info. What is the status of the armies. I mean which ones are ready? Being worked on? Still in the concept stage. I been trying to get an idea so I get a rough idea where figure are in the development of the project. I got a Amazon army with Hecate and Artemis. Plus all these unlock figures. I am just wondering some news cause I don't get any on the KS site.

I'm trying to focus on the stuff that was scheduled first, so it's Demigods - then the Trojans - then the Amazons. We're running about 2 months behind on these, but I'm finished all of the miniatures and components as fast as I can.

We expect to start shipping the Painter-level rewards very soon - all of the Demigods have been molded and I'll be picking up the first production castings this week.

Trojans will be a little later, as I still have to finish Helen of Troy, and a couple bits (Battle Honors shields, sword arms). About half of their molds are now complete.

Amazons come after the Trojans, and I'll have several models to complete for them. I expect to be finished with Helen and the last of the Trojans by the 15th of November, and after that I'll be on the Amazons 100% - so we can expect to start seeing some new greens for the Amazons completed in early December - they will have a lot of components to be molded (just like the Trojans) so I'll be posting updates as we get the last greens and molds completed.

As for the latest progress, the Oracle is now 100% complete! I'll post new photos in the Kickstarter update tomorrow.

Maybe the Greek version of the 'Riddle of the Sphynx" scenario?

She looks great all put together!

I so need to get another oracle,

When I graduate (a BA majoring in Ancient Histroy), I was thinking of giving some of my lecturers a painted mini as a thank you gift. Croc has given me so many ideas!

My closest lecturer, who I am likely do do Masters with, did his PhD on Prophetic speech, and was the first to prove the Delphic oracle spoke in her own voice (not gibberish as translated by men). This mini is perfectly clothed, I didn't want to give him anything too racy.

Tom will be given a Demigod of Dionysus, he is an expert in Republican Rome, but he looks like the figure, especially the cheeky gleam in his eyes. Peter will get a Roma emperor. For Susanne, who is an Egyptologist I will paint up a Priestess of Bast. Paul will get a Spartan something. I would like to give him a Corinthian Captain/hero but they wont be ready in time.

In addition to the 165 Trojans and Amazons I ordered, I did a separate PayPal pledge for one of the demi-gods. Am I likely to see this figure on my doorstep in the near future, or has everything been moved back again?

If you made a separate pledge for a Demigod + shipping, it will be going out with the first wave (of the 'Painter' rewards, some of these are shipping this week.)

Please send specific reward questions to us directly through Kickstarter, so that Debs can make whatever notations are needed to your survey & rewards. This thread is for showing off images of new greens and art, lets keep it focused on the fun stuff. Thanks!

Sculpting progress continues! While working on Helen of Troy, I've been finishing up the last of the Trojan poses, and there are 4 here to show off - Swordsman, Musician, Archer #3 and Archer Captain. These guys are making their first appearance here, but they are already at our moldmaker's for their master-mold now!

I'm still working on Helen, but she is coming along slower than I would like, as most of the last week was spent getting the Demigod miniatures out the door. I'll get pics of her up as soon as she feels she is looking presentable, but it will be a few days...

And now, more Trojans!

New Trojans

The musician pictured above also comes with a shield, but I did not have any handy when taking the photo.

Sculpts are looking cool as always...you must be pleased to see the first batch of rewards going out! I bet sorting through everything can seem a tad daunting.

Looking great Chris, pleased I pledged for a swordsmen unit.

Plenty of detail in relief, should be a pleasure to paint.

Just out of interest did you end up doing all the shield options?

Cheers

Chris - Magnificent sculpts as always. Well worth waiting for. IMHO, WarGods are the best looking minis out there - bar none !

I'm still struggling with Helen sculpture, she is proving to be one of the most troublesome figures I've worked on recently. (No surprise really, considering all the trouble she caused for Menalaus back in the day!) I've had a couple false starts on her, but the latest revision is starting to shape up. I'll be posting pics as soon as she nears completion, but that will be a while yet.

For those who are eager to see something new and 'green', check out this thread:

'Generic' Hoplite Tread (images page 2)

I just posted some pics of the 'generic' Hoplite I've been working on-and-off the last couple months. More bits for him are coming in the future!

Chris is back to work on her after the holiday, she's starting to look vaguely human and female.

We're in the middle of changing our internet service provider, but we should be back online this friday. If all goes well we will have an update this weekend, with pictures!

Nearly there guys! I was hoping to have Helen wrapped up today, but she still needs some work on her face and hair - hopefully I'll have her finished in the next day or so... stay tuned!

We just got the metals of the Oracle as well, the mold turned out beautifully!

OK, that earlier post got away before I had completed it! sorry, basically I was curious about general progress and if I am in the wrong place I apologize, but I think, based on past posts that the Trojans should be pretty much complete, the archers for Mycenae and Sparta as well - although we have not seen the leaders for them yet, we still have the Mycenaean peltasts and Spartan swordsmen on the horizon as well. So, I guess what I am wondering is: with Helen almost there, are the second wave miniatures from the kickstarter (the Trojans) ready soon so we can start getting pumped up for the Amazon greens which should be popping up any minute as well!

I meant I'm nearly done with Helen. After she's done we'll be getting the Trojans rewards ready for shipping, and once that's done I'll be on the Amazons. Please keep in mind it takes be about 2 weeks to sculpt a figure, and complicated models take longer, so there is still a while before I'll be posting Amazons.

Todd is doing the Archers and Peltasts for the other citystates. We have to compete with other companies for his sculpting time, but he's now currently working on the Peltasts, so we should be able to show off the first of their models fairly soon.

Please bear with me guys, we'll have some more cool stuff to show off very soon!

OK, she's about 99% complete, so let's show her off! All that really remains are her slotta-tab, the straps on the rear sandal (I need to remove her from the cork to get in close enough to sculpt them) and few clean-ups here and there.

Beauty is a very subjective thing, and to sculpt 'the most beautiful woman in history' that pleases everyone is probably an impossible task. I've tried to stick closely the Des' concept design. We loosely based her appearance on a young Sophia Loren, and for the sculpture I tried to give her something of an otherworldly air with her pose and face, as if her physical appearance closely resembled the stylized form of art that the greeks used - that would be the standard of beauty for the day. Hopefully this is a subtle effect, and I'm looking forward to seeing her painted - after looking at her in green for so long, seeing her in color will be a welcome change!

Thanks to everyone for their patience with me as I worked on this mini. Some figures are very challenging, I could probably have sculpted half a dozen rough-and-tumble warriors with swords and spears in the time it to to make her! I'll be cleaning her up and taking some more photos on a base to send out in a general update this weekend.

Hope you guys like her!

This is a really lovely sculpt, even for me being not too great a fan of Sophia :-) , thanks for that.

All the infos about the other progresses (archers, peltasts) are appreciated a lot, as they give me the happy feeling that my Trojan/Amazon army is will show up at my door step early next year :-))

cheers Thomas

Very nice! I think you may need to consider actually selling this in the store once the KS people get their free copy! I could see painting this model as Helen (of course) but also with a variant paint scheme she could be used for Medea, Circe, Ariadne etc....just sayin'

Actually I agree with Alcibia about putting her on your website for everyone once us Kickstarter chaps get ours! She is too good to just be an exclusive - give everyone a chance to paint her! : )

I don't think we could do that; she was promoted as a Kickstarter exclusive, and it would not be right to turn around and sell her separately. I'm not going to rule out doing alternate versions of her and the Oracle, with different heads/details, but that would not be until all my promised Kickstarter minis are completed.

Folks who still want to get her can still join up by the Paypal Pledging - I've been holding off closing it until I got the last of the 'exclusive' minis done.
