I so need to get another oracle,
When I graduate (a BA majoring in Ancient Histroy), I was thinking of giving some of my lecturers a painted mini as a thank you gift. Croc has given me so many ideas! My closest lecturer, who I am likely do do Masters with, did his PhD on Prophetic speech, and was the first to prove the Delphic oracle spoke in her own voice (not gibberish as translated by men). This mini is perfectly clothed, I didn't want to give him anything too racy. Tom will be given a Demigod of Dionysus, he is an expert in Republican Rome, but he looks like the figure, especially the cheeky gleam in his eyes. Peter will get a Roma emperor. For Susanne, who is an Egyptologist I will paint up a Priestess of Bast. Paul will get a Spartan something. I would like to give him a Corinthian Captain/hero but they wont be ready in time.

|

In addition to the 165 Trojans and Amazons I ordered, I did a separate PayPal pledge for one of the demi-gods. Am I likely to see this figure on my doorstep in the near future, or has everything been moved back again?

Sculpting progress continues! While working on Helen of Troy, I've been finishing up the last of the Trojan poses, and there are 4 here to show off - Swordsman, Musician, Archer #3 and Archer Captain. These guys are making their first appearance here, but they are already at our moldmaker's for their master-mold now!
I'm still working on Helen, but she is coming along slower than I would like, as most of the last week was spent getting the Demigod miniatures out the door. I'll get pics of her up as soon as she feels she is looking presentable, but it will be a few days...
And now, more Trojans!
The musician pictured above also comes with a shield, but I did not have any handy when taking the photo.

Sculpts are looking cool as always...you must be pleased to see the first batch of rewards going out! I bet sorting through everything can seem a tad daunting.

Plenty of detail in relief, should be a pleasure to paint. Just out of interest did you end up doing all the shield options? Cheers Stu

I'm still struggling with Helen sculpture, she is proving to be one of the most troublesome figures I've worked on recently. (No surprise really, considering all the trouble she caused for Menalaus back in the day!) I've had a couple false starts on her, but the latest revision is starting to shape up. I'll be posting pics as soon as she nears completion, but that will be a while yet.
For those who are eager to see something new and 'green', check out this thread: 'Generic' Hoplite Tread (images page 2)
I just posted some pics of the 'generic' Hoplite I've been working on-and-off the last couple months. More bits for him are coming in the future!

Nearly there guys! I was hoping to have Helen wrapped up today, but she still needs some work on her face and hair - hopefully I'll have her finished in the next day or so... stay tuned!
We just got the metals of the Oracle as well, the mold turned out beautifully!
|
![]()
What does "nearly there guys" mean?
|
|
![]()
OK, that earlier post got away before I had completed it! sorry, basically I was curious about general progress and if I am in the wrong place I apologize, but I think, based on past posts that the Trojans should be pretty much complete, the archers for Mycenae and Sparta as well - although we have not seen the leaders for them yet, we still have the Mycenaean peltasts and Spartan swordsmen on the horizon as well. So, I guess what I am wondering is: with Helen almost there, are the second wave miniatures from the kickstarter (the Trojans) ready soon so we can start getting pumped up for the Amazon greens which should be popping up any minute as well!

Please keep in mind it takes be about 2 weeks to sculpt a figure, and complicated models take longer, so there is still a while before I'll be posting Amazons. ![]() Todd is doing the Archers and Peltasts for the other citystates. We have to compete with other companies for his sculpting time, but he's now currently working on the Peltasts, so we should be able to show off the first of their models fairly soon. Please bear with me guys, we'll have some more cool stuff to show off very soon!

OK, she's about 99% complete, so let's show her off! All that really remains are her slotta-tab, the straps on the rear sandal (I need to remove her from the cork to get in close enough to sculpt them) and few clean-ups here and there.
Beauty is a very subjective thing, and to sculpt 'the most beautiful woman in history' that pleases everyone is probably an impossible task. I've tried to stick closely the Des' concept design. We loosely based her appearance on a young Sophia Loren, and for the sculpture I tried to give her something of an otherworldly air with her pose and face, as if her physical appearance closely resembled the stylized form of art that the greeks used - that would be the standard of beauty for the day. Hopefully this is a subtle effect, and I'm looking forward to seeing her painted - after looking at her in green for so long, seeing her in color will be a welcome change! Thanks to everyone for their patience with me as I worked on this mini. Some figures are very challenging, I could probably have sculpted half a dozen rough-and-tumble warriors with swords and spears in the time it to to make her! I'll be cleaning her up and taking some more photos on a base to send out in a general update this weekend. Hope you guys like her!
|
![]()
This is a really lovely sculpt, even for me being not too great a fan of Sophia :-) , thanks for that.

Very nice! I think you may need to consider actually selling this in the store once the KS people get their free copy! I could see painting this model as Helen (of course) but also with a variant paint scheme she could be used for Medea, Circe, Ariadne etc....just sayin'

Folks who still want to get her can still join up by the Paypal Pledging - I've been holding off closing it until I got the last of the 'exclusive' minis done.

With the Trojan sculptures all complete and at the moldmaker, work has now moved on to the Amazons!
![]() Here are the other 2 variations for the Amazon warriors, without helmets. (The rear-rank-no-helmet is already complete, visible on the Kickstarter page). This completes all the models for the basic unit, with the characters still to go. The torsos for the Peltasts and Archers are also all done, and these will be going to our moldmaker this week to be made into intermediates. For those curious about the sculpting process, I'll post some pics of these tomorrow (we'll be having a Kickstarter Update then too.) Here are the latest ladies:

Sweet looking model Chris the Women of Olympus are really looking awesome.
Oh and by the way I played a game last night against an Amazon Warband being lead by a Daughter of Ares. Wow talk about tough, two units of slingers with a Misc rating of 5 is brutal. And with the special rule "Hatred of Men" all the Amazons had an Attack rating of 5. Also the Battle Honor Spear Sisters is really wick after two rounds of melee with my Corinthian phalanx. The Sisters had lost enough warriors to have a +3 damage modifier. My phalanx did not last to long after that. But it was a great game and a great opponent. Thanks Joe (Akori)

Amazon progress continues!
![]() For those who like to see some insight into how some of these are being sculpted, I've snapped a couple photos of the Amazon Peltasts/Archer models 'in-progress'. I'm doing these using a time-saving technique by making 'intermediates' of their legs/torsos, getting castings made of these parts, and then sculpting onto the castings to make the completed models. There's going to be 8 different models using these 2 intermediates - with means I save myself having to sculpt an additional 6 legs/torsos. This may not seem like a lot, but that is probably a couple weeks of sculpting saved right there! The finished models will all have a different look, of course, with unique heads/weapons, arm poses, etc. Here's a photo of the 2 intermediates:
And here's a photo of one of these cast, with the master casting right next to the original. Halfway there with another Amazon!
I'll post more progress on these in a few weeks, when I get castings of both back from our moldmaker.

OK, here's an in-progress shot of some of the Amazon Peltasts and an Archer.
The Archer is completed, and the Peltasts are nearly there - they just need their correct shield arms (I stuck one of the warrior shields on the center model, but the finished models will all come with shield/javelin arms just like the Peltast captain posted a couple weeks back. These arms are all already complete, but they are at the moldmaker, and so not available for the photo!)
So where are we with the Amazons? Let's do a quick run-down: Completed: Warriors with spear & shield (all completed), Peltast Captain, Peltasts (2 of 3 poses completed), Archers (1 of 3 poses completed), Hero, 1 Honor Guard, Casualty, Armor Rack, Sword Sprue Still to go: Amazon Champion, 1 remaining Peltast pose (in progress), 2 Archers, 1 Archer Captain (in progress), Penthesilea (in progress), Herald & Musician, 1 Honor Guard conversion If everything goes well I should have all of the Peltasts and Archers wrapped up this weekend.

The Kickstarter we backed ended 30 days before this one and had Dec 2013 delivery dates. Croc has already started shipping some of their Kickstarter Gear, while the other Kickstarter does not even have a light at the end of the tunnel. They can't seem to get their most iconic miniature, the Valkyrie, done properly. 5 months after they were supposed to have shipped the game and they are still going back and forth with the mini manufacturer about the designs... we'll be getting that game in 2015!

So far Croc is a bit late with the Trojans and Amazons, but we still have 3 months before they're late with the rulebook That said, I know that they'll deliver and they have been keeping us reasonably well updated

Just got the email update to confirm my address in preparation for the shipment of the Trojans! Awesome!
![]() For the record, I participated in two other kickstarters that started before this one, and to date I have yet to see anything from them. As far as I am concerned, it is all good, cause the Sons of Troy will be here soon! Thanks for Chris and Debs for all your hard work.

My wife called to tell me there is a parcel from Fitz at the house. Sure bet it's the Trojans. Suddenly the chances of me staying late to finish this project at work tonight have begun to seriously diminish... ;)

![]() Wolf said:Ha! I did just that! Fortunately she didn't make good on her threat.Hektor said:"Fly you fool!" They are outstanding. I know that is no surprise, but still has to be said. Going through them now. A lot to absorb. Helen is brilliant, concept art brought to life. I have no idea how I'm going to do the model justice, but it's going to be fun trying. The demigods rock. Hephaestus' pics appeared big and strong but in person he's even more powerful looking than I expected. Demigod of Poseidon is ace. Aeneas (though I will be using him as Hektor - no surprise there!) is probably my favorite of the lot. Fantastic.
One happy camper here.

Mighty Ares has received his Trojans. Mighty Ares will build and paint these warriors with as much excitement as when he is at war, killing and slaughtering. Mighty Ares has spoken!

I have had one Kickstarter that actually shipped ahead of time (one month before the target), all others have been delayed, many by more than six months. As long as the communication is OK, I do not mind it.
All that being said, since I am receiving Corithians, Amazons and almost anything non-aligned, I am not expecting anything before the turn of this year. Knowing Fitz's quality, I will rahter wait a few weeks or months longer then miss said quality!

I envy you guys who have already got their parcels a bit ;-) I have to wait until the Amazones and even the Automatons are done.
Maybe you can show round a few pictures of your first painted samples or so, please.... cheers Thomas

Arrival of the Trojans took me by surprise and I have to finish what is on the painting table right now first. As soon as they are done, the Trojans go up next. Though I daresay my paint scheme won't stray too far from what Debs did. I like it pretty much exactly as is. Not really sure how I am going to approach the Demigods yet. Going to try to tie them into the Trojan paint scheme if I can.

That sounds great thanks, Thomas P.S. First in first out on the painting table, I have the same attidude, but often fail when it comes to new stuff....

Went to work and got my Trojans. Totally excited but disappointed too. Not because of the Trojans, but because we are packing up to move house so I won't get to play with my wonderful new toys for a while.

Received my Trojans and they are just amazing the extra sculpts well the photos don't do them any justice, and neither can I adequately describe how wonderful the sculpting is. Now I wish I could have afforded at the time all the factions, however as soon as they are available I'm in for them all. Paul

Great to hear some of you guys have started getting your Trojans! I'm now back at the sculpting table, and working on the next Kickstarter update (should be ready tomorrow).

I absolutely love the progress the Croc had been making through this Kickstarter! I didn't purchase any of the Trojan units but I can't wait to get my Amazons and wait patiently for the accolades to pour in from everyone who hasn't already played this outstanding Wargods game system! You have my full support and admiration Fitz!
Very Respectfully, KEVIN (Now in Liverpool, NY)

Hi all,
I received my Trojans this week. It is hard to comment on the figures without saying something that hasn't been said before, or is known to the visitors of this forum anyway. Besides Fitz's magnificent scupting, it may be mentioned that the casting and material used is also of the finest quality. Since I'm not gaming but collecting the figures, questions like the number of different poses, alternative weapon arms etc. matter much to me. Thus, I thought I'll give a short review of the Trojan warband for those who are still waiting for their stuff. Aeneas & Honor Guards (2): Aeneas is bigger than the "normal" Trojans. Being a son of Aphrodite, is he technically a "Demigod of Aphrodite"? The crest of his helmet is sculpted like a stylized horse head, a nice detail adding to the faction identity flair. The (two different) honor guards are armed with swords and shield. While their shields have a different shape, their star decoration nicely matches that of Aeneas' shield. Captain (& Casualty): The Captain has a separate weapon hand sprue, with choice of spear, javelin and sword. Shield with a horse motif, but different from spearman unit. Hero (& Armor Rack): Separate weapon arm sprue with spear or sword to chose from. Again a different shield with horse motif. Archer unit: A Captain and 11 archers in 3 different poses. Peltast unit: A Captain and 11 peltasts in 3 different poses. Shield hands separate, with two different types (one or two spare javelins in hand). Spearman unit: A musician with trumpet and bare head, a standard bearer with dagger and vexillum type standard, the pole ending in a horse head (another nice detail). The ranks come in three types, hind rank with upright spears (2 poses, 4 total), mid rank with slightly inclined spears (also 2 poses 4 total), and front rank with separate spear arms (2 different per sprue). What surprised me was the fact that the 4 front rank spearmen come in 4 different poses!!! Some of the differences are subtle, so it took me a moment to realize it. For all units, I found that the numbers of figures for the different poses are as close to being equal as possible (e.g. 4:4:3 for archers and peltasts). This could be good luck, but I actually suspect this to be the result of considerate packing (thank you, Debs!). Overall, I'm more than pleased with the delivery. I just hope you'll keep that high standard with the other factions. Best wishes, Frank

Good reveiw sir! I have no doubt the rest of the factions will be up to the high standard Chris & Deb have set for Wargods. : )

Oh my! Great sculpt for the Captain! However, this update just helped me to realize that I overlooked both the Spartan and the Mycenaean archer captains in my add on selection

Here are some in-progress shots of the Automaton Hoplite. He's about 90% done, just need to add a few details (hands, etc), and make an alternate head and sword arm.

Great looking figure Chris can not wait to field this guy.
Thanks Nocal Tony

Spartan captain looks great, and that automaton...fantastic. How will those work? Are they summoned by the Demigod of Hephaestus? How many can you take in a warband? (Please tell me it's a whole phalanx) ;)
