I am very much eager to see Olympus come out, but frankly Aegyptus is still my favorite. Greek mythology has been done before in wargames but not Egyptian mythology, at least not like you have done. I would really like to see Aegyptus updated to be competitive with Olympus. They are supposed to be in the same world and playable together, but there is no way Aegyptus can compete with Olympus when the full book comes out. Olympus has all sorts of specialist units, including Battle Honor units, that most factions in Aegyptus lack. Also Olympus has all those monsters and mythological troops that you can hire by following a specific god, which is rare in Aegyptus. Olympus also seems to have so much detail and focus on it that Aegyptus just cannot compete. Aegyptus needs an update to be competitive. It would not be that hard to do and fans like me could do most of the work. I would be happy to design and playtest a revamped Aegyptus army. It is a matter of having the levels of complexity and cool options that Olympus armies will have. Also, Anubis and Horus armies already have a cool extra unit, so that is two less units that we need to create.

Aegyptus and Olympus would be really fun to play together as fully competitive settings. However, most sub-factions of Aegyptus do not have special units and have limited special monsters and special rules to keep things interesting. since Aegyptus is the more mythological of the two settings, it should have more mythology in its armies, but right now, Olympus armies will have more mythological-themed stuff, while Aegyptus armies seem far too human and normal, which is unfitting for a mythological army of humanoid animal and stone creatures.

Aegyptus is competitive with Olympus

We've been playing mixed tournaments at Cancon, and the last few years it has been an Aegyptus army that has won (basti with khemru allies this year). It just requires a slightly different approach - fast units attacking flanks, etc.

Also, objectives are key in wargods, you don't have to wipe out the enemy, just beat them to the objective, and aegyptuys warbands are definitely easier to gear up to achieve this.

I would also like to see more unique units, but you are forgetting that in aegyptus the children of the gods are mythological units, whereas olympus has humans, humans and more humans as the core of the warbands. That said, I'd just like to see a regular release schedule, with everythjng in the olympus (and Wendigo) book released

What do you think of my proposals in these forums? The mythological Children need to feel a little more mythological with unique units and more unique special rules.

Aegyptus armies neeed to be able to challenge Olympus armies in the front at times. Perhaps Heru can do that now, but having to use the flanks all the time is too limiting; there needs to be a way to attack in the front too.

If there is enough interest/support to make it possible, we'd like to do a 'WarGods Companion" after Olympus, that compiles all of the added PDF material we did over the years (like WarHawks, Scarab Ogre, etc) into one printed & easy-to-reference book. There would also be some new stuff for the factions that have not had updates yet.

So yes, we'd love to do more for Aegyptus!

You don't need to use the flanks all the time - a strong spear-armed block is quite capable of holding out against a phalanx for long enough to get a second unit into the flank

This is, in face, no different to playing Aegyptus vs. Aegyptus - two heavy spear blocks are going to be whacking at each other for a while before sufficient damage is done to break one, add a unit into the flank or rear and the unit is going to break more quickly.

As primarily a Basti player, this is exactly how you have to approach facing anything - the idea is that you have each unit with a designated role, and make sure that you use them for that (Basti archers charging a Sebeki beloved excepted).

On a final note - there is absolutely no need for an Aegyptus forces to face an Olympus force head-on if they don't want to. Olympus forces are limited to 25% missile/light troops, and they don't have the ability to change equipment like an Aegyptus force does. You need to use the flexibility of the options for Aegyptus to develop a force that can cope with an Olympus force, this is their biggest advantage.

Yes, it would be nice to see additional units (similar to Warhawks and Necro Guard) come into the game, but at the same time any unit needs to fit with the background of Aegyptus, and I can't see any way that an Aegyptus unit is going to give you what you want without breaking the background.

I agree with Oceanborn regarding Ægyptus v Olympus, they do compete and the specialists add a great bit of flavour, seeing some more asar city dweller specifics for the other children would be great, and I'd love seeing a harbinger of a Ssyth (read a Nekharu harbinger effectively in a similar vein to isis/toth harbingers) although I don't think this will ever be a thing...

After the Olympus rules and models are all sorted I'd love to see work dive headlong into the viking or hyperborea setting for a kickstarter ideally a slightly less ambitious range of models and streach goals so that a faster turn around on completion of the range can happen...

I'd love to see a "gap filling" kickstarter. Essentially a checklist of what models are still needed for both Aegyptus and Olympus with the printed book Chris mentioned. But I want the To-Tanem slingers released first.
